"We have to help the hungry as best we can. We have to see that feeding the hungry is no less than the worship of God." - Amma
Mother’s Kitchen - New York is a soup kitchen inspired by Amma’s love and compassion. It is held on the first Saturday of each month from 1:30-8 p.m. at Ascension Church, 221 West 107th St. (between Broadway and Amsterdam Ave.). The church is ideally suited for Mother’s Kitchen, offering a newly renovated commercial kitchen, a larger feeding area, air conditioning and many needy people in the neighborhood.
The coordinators of Mother’s Kitchen are Sangeeta Bhattacharya and Sudha Greentree. Please e-mail Sudha (JudithGreentree@aol.com) if you can help with food prep, cooking, dining room set-up, serving and clean-up during the soup kitchen or picking up cartons of donated produce beforehand.
We look forward to your participation in Mother’s Kitchen – New York!
